Felton Industries – A Dynamic Website – Shopping Cart – Database CMS

Dynamic Website – Database  CMS  Shopping Cart

Wow this is huge, 6 month’s ago i was asked to have a look at another web site to help out an old customer with some issues they where having with another web developer, so with an open view i tried to be fair to both parties, first thing i noticed was the crappy code – Yes it was being built of shore from India. Now thats not all that bad, you do get what you pay for. after a couple weeks i was just asked can i do some thing to get Felton Industries back on the right track. With a big project that was getting bigger by the day and more and more wanting to be done, it was quiet clear a normal web site was not going to cut it here, I looked at all the options and when it all can down to it – it was dial a friend time. I had done a few small jobs with Ronan from IT Integrated Business Solutions and knew this was right up his alley, with many talks with Felton we come up with a great layout and plan.  First objective was find a frame work which was bullet proof and easy to work with – Along came SeyDesign with one of there new themes just been released CRE4MY and being on the beta team and testing it – i knew we got the foundation correct. You will notice it has had a lot of mods from the demo on the display site, good testament to what you can do with a great theme.

Felton Industries - Specialists in Aluminium Seating & FurnitureTime for Ronan to do some magic, 3 months later a heap of sleepless nights  (Im in Australia and MrR is in Spain) we got up some of the backend /database/java script and the customer was starting to add products and content, The customer has full control over pricing, content, images, and descriptions as well as all email templates, they can add remove change any product as they wish any time they want, this not only goes with the product area, this also goes with a lot of the other pages, most places out side the product and shopping cart environment are driven by Pulse CMS a great light weight solution i use for most sites where customers need access.

Last 2 weeks of late minute changes, a server swap from cold fusion to php servers to get it all happening and test to find any errors last monday we got the green light to go live friday after 5pm, we might find the odd broken link, but a quiet friday night and a beer  to relax – this should not be an issue, A great end to some hard work. but is that bitter sweet?

So whats the twist ? there has to be one right ? Felton Industries is run out of Condobolin NSW and today they have to evacuate because of the flooding in the town and good chance they will miss it going live,  hope you guys are all ok!

This would have been the biggest learning curve that i ever had to deal with and thanks to a great team of developers this all came together to show off some great work normally dedicated software has trouble doing (Shopping cart, CMS, Web site)

Yes thats 1 down 3 more to come in the following weeks, with also some great backend and data base work. Watch This Space!!! We now taking on the Real Estate Market.

A Small Make Over

This morning at 4am i could not sleep so i got up to do an unexpected mod to a local web site “Temora Show Society” The Show wants to take a bit more charge in the web activities of its own web site, to achieve this it would not be possible with out some awesome training and a heap of software, so they got the Word Press maker over (not the one we talked about in last post)

So i pulled down there web site and archived it, then found a free theme from WP and started the transformation, thus being a very basic site this took me about 6 hrs of heavy intense work and to port all of it over to Word Press. This will make it easier for them to maintain the site with Wp’s great CMS features.

A Local Business Website

Dave Jackson Furniture Removals4 weeks ago i started a web site for a local Cootamundra company, Dave Jackson Furniture Removals, he found me through a google search and because he had no luck getting some one to step up to the plate and build him a web site , well Dave came to the right place.

Dave dropped over why he was in town doing a removal and we had a meeting, first question i got “How long will this take” Now i get this all the time and the short answer is “When ever you (the customer) gets me the material to do the site” We i am glad to say , Dave has really done his work, he knows what he wanted on his web site , got me the material and also did 2 trips to Perth in same time and proud to say yesterday we went live with Dave Jackson Furniture Removals.

As for the web site, we added a great page for Dave to allow his customers to fill out a php form online and that would get Dave all the info he needed to give them a great quote, as well as some CMS integrated in to the site to allow Dave to do the odd change if need be. It was a pleasure working with Dave, thank buddy was a great job.

Finished – 2 Web Sites

Last 2 months have been a bit busy, Both Elders Lennoxhead and Ballina Removals have now 2 new web sites. Two totally different looks and needs.

Elders with there upgrade got to swap over to the new HubOnline data system for real estates, this gave the page a way better look and feel for the customer to be able to search for what they where after,  Also the ability to see more info on the house / properity they would like to purchase.

The 2nd was for Elders was to display the sellers property a way lot better to give the buying way more info.

We built some CMS (content management system) into the site to allow Elders to update certain areas and do changes to others as well as imbedding Word Press into there web site to allow them to post regular changes to what they are selling or auctions.

The front page has an awesome slide show with some shots from around the lovel area of Lennox Head.

Ballina removals new web site has some really nice code added to the “Get a Quote” page this was written by Ronan Cashell, really does some nice stuff behinds the scene to do its job.

With a big update from there old web site, this one really makes a statement, a bit of HDR over the main header image.

The look really stands out with some really nice design, We did implement a heap of CMS through out the site so they could keep it up to data – more and more customers now wanting more control over there web site we are able to do this now very cheaply.

As well as easy to implement its dead simple to use. The web industry has come a long way in the last couple years and when we get Internet explorer v9, it wil be even beter .

Both sites look 10 times better in Safari, Google Chrome or Firefox, it relly brings out all the new features that we can implement that IE7 or 8 dont let us show you.
