Automation and Your Business

Have you ever asked your self can we automate your work flow ? The real answer is, this is highly possible.

2 weeks ago i meet with a new client to talk about a fix to a system that was set up “that was suppose to be ” to make things easier, today some many companies tell the client what they want or what they want to sell them with out really asking the right questions instead or what the client needs.

Within 2 min i figured out they had the wrong system to do the job – well lets say a real slow clunky way of doing it that was costing a lot of money, i offered some ideas as well needed to do some more home work and consult a friend that really does some fantastic work in this field.

4 days later we had a 3 way skype hook up with the new client, Ronan from IT Integrated Business Solutions and my self to nut out a better solution, with in an hour, not only have we can up with solution it looks to be saving the new client thousands of dollars in operating costs, a simpler solution, better tracking and automating a lot of the work.

This is not the first time Ronan and I had work together, he had helped me out on a few other website jobs with some automation and streamlining different process for the customers. (http://ballinaremovals.com.au/ and http://www.davejacksonfurnitureremovals.com/) These where classic examples how to improve the information needed to be supplied to furniture removals with a lot of the back end work being automated. with a coupole other project also about to start, cant wait to post about them shortly.

What Are the Consequences of Data Loss?

The consequences of data loss are dire; here is a sampling of just a few statistics related to the impact of data loss on business:

  • 93% of companies that lost their data center for 10 days or more due to a disaster, filed for bankruptcy within one year of the disaster. 50% of businesses that found themselves without data management for this same time period filed for bankruptcy immediately. (National Archives & Records Administration in Washington)
  • 94% of companies suffering from a catastrophic data loss do not survive – 43% never reopen and 51% close within two years. (University of Texas)
  • 30% of all businesses that have a major fire go out of business within a year and 70% fail within five years. (Home Office Computing Magazine)
  • • 77% of those companies who do test their tape backups found back-up failures.
  • (Boston Computing Network, Data Loss Statistics)
  • 7 out of 10 small firms that experience a major data loss go out of business within a year. (DTI/Price waterhouse Coopers)
  • 96% of all business workstations are not being backed up. (Contingency Planning and Strategic Research Corporation)
  • 50% of all tape backups fail to restore. (Gartner)
  • 25% of all PC users suffer from data loss each year (Gartner)

Australia Day – Upgrades – Data Backup

Well all its time again to party up for Australia Day, Have Fun All. This also is the start of the 2011 work year for me, 2 web sites under construction and hope to release one to public in a week and not far behind that by mid feb. We are also revamping a mates site (Rescuetech) Just waiting on some art work there.

We also upgraded a couple work PC’s, one a really nice 6 screen trading machine and revamped and server to a work machine and reworked all the back ups and bigger drives to get them through 2011. With the amount of data store by some companies today, a really good back up plan must be implemented. One thing to think of “What will your company do if it looses its data” are you prepared for that day?

I read this on the net (source)
